Organization and Leadership Development

Strategic Planning

Does your organization choose and design its future or is it a simply   at the mercy of what happens?   Are people unsure or unable to see the big picture of how their work fits into the overall organization?  Is it hard to prioritize the work within your finite resources?   You can change this.  What if your organization operated with full clear understanding of its vision and purpose?  People knew what mattered most?  Might empowering your work place with strong vision of what matters the most and a strategic plan help people work committed together?

Utilize this program as a retreat or training to develop a strategic plan.  Starting  with key questions and reflections about the collective vision and mission you will  construct your strategies from a state of appreciation from what is already great.  From there move on to dreaming beyond what is to discover new possibilities.  Learn to design your strategies with a possibility of nimbleness for new uncharted ways in the emerging world.  You will prepare a multi-year strategic plan and break it down to  a one year business plan.

Intended audience:  Leaders and management.

Solving What Matters with Critical Thinking

Is your organization in response mode – wasting time responding to crisis after crisis?  Or is it actively solving problems, making choices and decisions and moving forward?  Do people leverage a common process to obtain solutions?  Need a way for people to manage stressful problems in a new emerging work world?  What if your people were able to thoughtfully work through a problem while doing it with greater speed because they can all use a common approach that works?

You know the difference between a problem and an opportunity. But does your organization know how to respond to them?  Problems and opportunities are two different things.  A problem requires a response.  An opportunity can be passed over without a response and the opportunity is missed. Or, a solution can be designed bringing a benefit into your organizations future reality.

Workplaces dealing economics, complex situations and emergence of new ways of operating need to ensure the best decisions are made with problems and choosing which opportunities to seize.  Better decisions and implementation are a result of a deliberate process of thinking, analyzing and bringing forth solutions.

This highly interactive seminar will provide the participants with the fundamentals and principles of critical thinking as well as practical skills and tools for application to current real world problems and decisions.  They will develop an understanding of the  varying thinking styles and the strength of each as it relates to solving problems. Finally, they will practice a multistep problem solving method which can be used in work groups to utilize the strengths of appropriate thinking styles.

The seminar develops leaders and workers, improving their problem solving skills and teaching them to seizing opportunities.  Stay ahead of the competition.  Learn to map the system and take a system approach to problem solving.  Gain tools and techniques to improve the results to satisfy clients and end users.

The quality of your thinking determines the outcomes in your work.  Working harder has not been an effective option for years. Get excited about “thinking critically” to create successful outcomes in our complex work world!  Tricking your mind is not necessary.  Take control of your mind to make better decisions and achieve desired results.

Intended Audience:  Management, program managers, staff, those who confronted with work problems

Team Development

Powerful Teams

Do you have teams or groups? Confused about the difference? What if people in your organization operated interdependently to accomplish what matters most? What if you were able to reduce the cost of conflict and instead increase the benefit of conflict?  Trust involves being open and sharing communication, but what about all of today’s ambiguity, confusion and chaos? Make your rock stars successful as well as your teams.

The majority of work is accomplished by a group of people organized to perform with synergy of a team.  It takes effective leadership, teamwork, and relationships with good communications to organize and plan to gain commitments, establish and effectively implement a plan.  This seminar integrates the elements of team development, relationships based on values and motivation, communication, and trust with organizing and carrying out work.

People need effective relationship skills because people are the ones who get the work done together.

Participants will:

  • Develop an understanding of skills required to build effective and productive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Explore strategies for communication and effective conflict management.
  • Explore behaviors that reduce and build trust in relationships.
  • Identify stages of team development and appropriate actions to turn individuals into teams.
  • Distinguish the difference between the roles of team leaders and members.
  • Learn when to focus on the work vs. the relationships in the team to accomplish what needs to be done.

Intended audience:  All who find themselves as part of a group with need for interaction to perform work with people in the group.
